Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Red Fez gets KURUPTed.

So Austin is lucky enough to have two long running hip hop nights. I have already mentioned Mels 12 year extravaganza. Now I have to rep for another recently new friend of mine,”Dj Kurupt“! If you live here in Austin Kurupt should be a household name, due to his work on HOT 93.3 with the Rush Hour Roll Out. If you haven’t heard him there then tonight is your chance to catch him live in the mix at RED FEZ! Be there, expect dress code enforcement, and possibly even a line to get in. It’s worth it though. The only thing i’ve ever been to on a sunday night for free, that feels like I should have paid to see. I believe that Kurupt has been going strong for seven years here at Red Fez!!

The Weekends….or week ends..?

So with another week behind us and a New Year upon us. I leave you with a little of what I like to call the realness. Hip Hop for the sake of being Hip Hop. A place where I have seen all the elements present, all at once! People who know that what they are taking part in is the real deal, and people who are just there but are equally important. I’m talking about all of my B-boys/B-girls, Dj’s, Writers, Emcees and all those who have the knowledge. Check it.

The Jackalope is one of sixth streets finest establishments. If you frequent it you already know this, and you probably know Ian! So drop by sunday and show them both some love!

Boxing Day!?

I’m not even going to pretend that I know what, “Boxing Day” is! I will just say that I might have picked up on it because of a certain Dj named, “Tittsworth“! I read something on his page pertaining to some tour dates and, “Boxing Day“!
Regardless, this man is by far my favorite Dj/Producer/Foodie right now.

Whisky Bar—No Mas??

It’s a sad thing to hear. Whisky Bar has been such a friend to me for the past three almost four years! All of the people that have worked there, all of the great Dj’s it has hosted. I’ve meet people like Scottie B, Tittsworth, Klever, C-Ray Walz, Mr. Dibbs, Mike Relm, The Cool Kids, Dave Nada, The Knux and Dj Numark all at Whisky Bar, and that’s just to name a few. I’ve thrown up in this bar, passed out in this bar, played there once, “on a really dead night, for just Beans and I basically”! Myself and alot of others are going to really miss this place.

Come out and show your support for one of their final events.

Antones Dec. 27th. Gary Clark Jr. & Bavu Blakes W/ The Extra Plairs!

This show is going to be alot of fun! I’ve seen him perform and have heard from many people that “Gary Clark Jr.“, is the baddest since Stevie Ray. Along with “Bavu Blakes & the Extra Plairs“, this is going to be a stage full of flat out professionals.
I can’t say that I know either of these cats personally, but I have talked to both of them and they are amongst some of the most down to earth musicians I have met to date. So check them out show some support.
